King Vinyl exposed - another anti-Mormon attacking Mitt Romney

I have come across several different blogs on Townhall posted by King Vinyl who regularly attacks Mitt Romney. Why so much hate for Mitt? Could King Vinyl be influenced by his anti-Mormon bias as exposed in his following blog:

The fact is that King Vinyl's postings about the LDS faith are full of distortions and flat out lies.

1. The FLDS faith is an offshoot of the LDS church, not the other way around.

2. It is not the FLDS but the former Reorganized LDS faith (RLDS), now the Community of Christ, that believed the prophet should be a descendant of Joseph Smith.

3. "Mainstream Mormons re-wrote their doctrine in an attempt to blur the lines on Christianity. Thus the name The Church of Jesus Christ LDS being seen as similar make recruiting easier." These statements are blatantly false. The name of the church has always been The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since it's inception on April 6, 1830. Furthermore, the primary mission of the Church has always been to bring souls to Christ as stated in the Book of Mormon's title page. Although the Church believes in continuous revelation through a living prophet, the revelations are consistent with the principles taught by other latter-day prophets as well as with prophets in the Bible and Book of Mormon.

4. You try to discredit Joseph Smith's vision by claiming that "no where in the Bible had a person ever seen God as a man." Again this is false. The Lord talked with Moses (Deut. 5:4) and Jacob (Gen. 32:30) face to face. They were not the only ones who saw the Lord (1 Kgs. 22:19, 2 Chr. 18:18).

Plus what about everyone who saw Jesus Christ during his ministry? Wouldn't they have seen God as a man? You say that you mean the Father, not the Son, right? But you believe in the Trinity as defined by the Nicene Creed, so they are the same person, right?

The LDS believe, however, that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one in purpose but not in substance. The Bible backs up the LDS view of the Trinity. When Stephen was being stoned to death he looked up into heaven and saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God (Acts 7: 55-56). If Jesus was standing next to God then they obviously are distinct persons. One is the Father and the other is his beloved Son.

Furthermore, the Savior himself prayed, "Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are." (John 17: 11) Many other times in that prayer he prayed that his disciples would be one as He and His Father is one. Does that mean all of His disciples would become the one physical person? Of course not. It means that they would be unified in purpose to do the will of the Son who did the will of His Father. Thus they are all one in purpose and mission.

5. You stated that Muhammed and Joseph Smith "believed in polygamy, male ownership of women, by today's standard both would be considered child molesters". First off, your statement suggests that married men own their wives, which is not what Joseph Smith taught or Mormons believe. I guess you would also cast stones at David, Abraham, and other Biblical prophets who practiced plural marriage since according to you they owned their wives and also must be considered child molesters.

6. You also claimed that Mormons worship Joseph Smith as a god, which is another flat out lie. Latter Day Saints do not worship Joseph Smith. "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." (Article of Faith 1)  We revere Joseph Smith as a great prophet who the Lord used to restore the fulness of His gospel and His church to the earth. It is no different than the Jews revering Moses as a great prophet for leading them out of Egypt. The fact is that Mormons revere all prophets throughout time including the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and the modern-day prophets.

7. Finally your last lie was the Joseph Smith could not read but was responsible for translating the untainted word of god to a third party. Joseph Smith was uneducated in regards to not having a lot of formal schooling. But Joseph Smith obviously knew how to read, since the turning point in his life that lead him to pray in the Sacred Grove where he had his vision was after he read from James 5 in the New Testament:

"While I was laboring under the extreme difficulties caused by the contests of these parties of religionists, I was one day reading the Epistle of James, first chapter and fifth verse, which reads: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Never did any passage of scripture come with more power to the heart of man than this did at this time to mine. It seemed to enter with great force into every feeling of my heart. I reflected on it again and again, knowing that if any person needed wisdom from God, I did; for how to act I did not know, and unless I could get more wisdom than I then had, I would never know; for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible.
At length I came to the conclusion that I must either remain in darkness and confusion, or else I must do as James directs, that is, ask of God. I at length came to the determination to “ask of God,” concluding that if he gave wisdom to them that lacked wisdom, and would give liberally, and not upbraid, I might venture." (Joseph Smith History 11-13)

Telling lies doesn't seem very Christian to me. I remember something in the Bible about not bearing false witness. Oh yeah, it's just one of the ten commandments. Latter Day Saints are old fashioned, I guess, in that we still believe in things like the ten commandments and prophets. Yes, we are very strange indeed.
